Director K. Asif's 1957 epic featuring Emperor Akbar and Prince Salim's struggle over Salim's love for a dancing girl is an acknowledged classic of Indian cinema. It has now been fully colorized and re-released. Among its attractions is the immortal voice of Hindustani classical vocalist legend Bade Ghulam Ali Khan, whom Asif persuaded to sing for this film.
