Obit: Tim Russert The host of the popular Meet the Press Sunday morning Talk Show died suddenly following a heart attack last week. Tim Russert was a political geek, knowledgeable and enthusiastic, and a rarity -- likeable. Russert earned a well-deserved reputation as a tough and prepared questioner. But like most other journalists in the national press, he too was shown up by the Iraq War: he neither challenged the government's obvious moral and factual errors in their case for war, nor held them account once the fraud unraveled.
His death removes a respected and universally loved TV figure. The image of Tim Russert holding up a board with Florida written three times forever epitomized the 2000 Election.
